Lockdown Drill Scheduled - Thursday October 2

As part of our emergency preparedness, we conduct ongoing drills throughout the school year. One of these emergency drills is the Lockdown Drill, which can be frightening for our students as it represents a significant disruption to their routine.

Lockdowns are usually used in response to acts or threats of violence to students and/or staff directly impacting the school. During a lockdown, all doors to and within the school are locked. No one is permitted to enter or exit any area once it is locked. Students and staff must respond quickly to a Lockdown command to reach a safe location before the doors are locked. No one, except law enforcement, is permitted access to the building until the lockdown is lifted.

As a school community, we made the decision several years ago to inform parents and guardians when a lockdown drill would be conducted. We will conduct a lockdown drill on Thursday, October 2nd

If you wish to speak further with your children about lockdowns, here is a social story shared by one of our parents that you can use: 'Why are we Having a Lockdown Drill?'
