Catholic Social Services

Catholic Social Services (CSS) is guided by faith to care for and bring hope to people in need with humility, compassion and respect.

CSS have been called forth by the Archdiocese of Edmonton to give witness to the great commandment given by Jesus Christ to love God and to love one another. They carry out their mission with compassion and competence and in accordance with the social teachings of the Catholic Church. They welcome and celebrate the diversity of their employees and volunteers who choose to work with their agency in support of their mission, values and principles.

At GSACRD, all schools have been invited to support the work at Catholic Social Services. At Albert Lacombe, we have committed to supporting Mercy Counselling. Throughout the year, we will be praying for the those being counselled; we will life up and inspire those being counselled with art displays; and we will raise donations for specific therapy tools they are in need of.

Mercy Counselling is a psychological  counselling and assessment service for the greater Edmonton area and Wetaskiwin.

They provide psychological counselling and assessment services — including mental health and wellness — to children, youth, adults, couples, and families. They also provide training for graduate students learning to become clinical counsellors.

Mercy Counselling is open to all members of the public. They practice from a faith-informed perspective, taking into account the values, beliefs, and cultural practices of the people whom they serve. Counsellors focus on the concerns that people bring, within the scope of practice of their staff members. Common challenges people might seek support for include anxiety, depression, self-esteem, learning, work-related problems, personality difficulties, as well as frustrations in marriage and family life.
